The best climbing locations in the Ardennes

Close to our campsite in the Ardennes Are the public rocks of Durnal, Yvoir and Freyr. Apart from these public rocks, Domaine du Bocq also has access to two private climbing sites, this is where we go with the climbing activities offered on weekends/holidays.

Rochers du Bocq:

Tucked away in the valley of the Bocq, half an hour's walk from Domaine du Bocq campground is a beautiful old quarry. From the ground you look against the steep rocky slope on one side and on the other to a green oasis of trees. From the top of the rocks you have a beautiful view into the valley. In the summer days you can be amazed at the different colors of green you see and in the fall the same view gives you a totally different palette of colors. If you look straight down from the top, you will see almost 40 meters down. To get to the top of the rocks, you can use the Via Ferrata. Then you can take an abseil all the way down again. There are also several climbing routes where you can climb to your heart's content.

Besides being ideal for climbing and descending, this quarry also has the possibility of making a bivouac. Around the campfire, participants will build a bivouac with poles and tarps. In the evening you can enjoy the silence and the beautiful starry sky, and in the morning you will be awakened early by the chirping of the birds!

Rocks of Yvoir:

From camping Domaine du Bocq, you can walk to the rocks of Yvoir within half an hour. This rock formation is hidden in the woods and offers a wonderful place for adventure in the shade on hot sunny days. On these rocks you can climb in several places, there are options for experienced or for beginners. There is also a via ferrata here, you move here a lot horizontally where the ground disappears further and further down under your feet. To descend again you can do so by abseil. This place has a large lawn with a campfire area around which you can build bivouac with tarps and poles.
